A multifunctional pet water bottle answers a very specific problem on a walk. The dog wants a drink, the owner wants one hand free, and nobody wants to carry a bottle, a bowl, a treat pouch and a roll of bags.

This one item holds 300ml of water in a clear body, opens into its own O-shaped drinking trough, keeps a portion of kibble in a compartment inside the same bottle, and carries both the shovel and the bags needed to clean up afterwards. Everything a short walk needs is already in the hand that is holding the leash.

The idea behind the design is that the bottle and the trough are one object. There is no separate bowl to unfold and no water to pour from one container into another, because the trough is moulded into the top of the bottle and the dog drinks directly from the item the owner is already holding.

A conventional walking bottle solves the water problem and then leaves the owner holding a wet bowl in one hand and a bag of treats in the other. Here the trough is part of the bottle, the food rides inside the same body, and the clean-up kit is clipped to the outside, so a walk of an hour or a day out needs one object instead of four.

For a retailer the appeal is the same: one SKU that covers drinking, feeding and cleaning up, which is an easier story to tell on a shelf or a product page than a bottle that only carries water. The clear body is the detail that makes the whole product readable at a glance.

The trough is a wide O-shaped scoop moulded into the top of the bottle, and its shape is the point of the design. It is broad and rounded rather than narrow and deep, so a muzzle settles into it without the nose pressing against a rim, and the curve holds a pool of water at the front where the dog can actually reach it.

The artwork notes that the O-shaped drinking trough suits the shape of a dog’s mouth, that it helps prevent water from spilling, and that it is suitable for dogs of all sizes outdoors. A flat-faced breed or a puppy can drink from it as easily as a large dog, which is not true of a deep narrow cup. The body of the multifunctional pet water bottle holds 300ml.

That is enough for a decent walk or a training session, and it is a comfortable weight to hold out at arm’s length while a dog drinks, which matters more than it sounds: a heavy bottle held out for a lapping dog is awkward within a minute.

The button is deliberately large and raised rather than a flush slider, because it has to be findable by feel while the owner is looking at the dog rather than at the bottle.

The Food Compartment and the Removable Divider

Inside the clear body there is a removable slotted divider, and it is what turns a water bottle into a feeding bottle.

With the divider in place the body is split into two sections, and the lower section holds kibble or treats; the artwork shows the compartment filled with kibble on two of the four bottles in the hero image, and shows the divider photographed on its own beside the bottle so the buyer can see it comes out.

The slots in the divider let air move and make the part easy to rinse, and because the divider is a separate moulding it can be lifted out and washed on its own. The separation matters more than the capacity.

Food that shares a space with water goes soft, takes on the smell of the water and turns the inside of the bottle unpleasant within a day, particularly in warm weather.

Keeping the kibble in its own section behind a divider means a training session can be run from the same object the dog drinks from, without a damp treat pouch in a pocket, and the water stays clean because crumbs never reach it. A dog can be rewarded from the bottle it has just drunk from, which is exactly what a short training walk needs.

Because the divider comes out, the same bottle can be used as a plain 300ml water bottle when no food is needed, at which point the whole clear body is available for water.

Does the multifunctional pet water bottle really not leak?

Once the button is closed, the water body is a sealed container and the only open part of the bottle is the O-shaped trough above it. A built-in silicone seal closes the flow, and the artwork describes the closure as double waterproof and leak-proof, with the bottle shown inverted through a full turn without losing water.

Water that has already been released into the trough is a different matter: it will spill if the bottle is turned upside down with the trough full, so the trough should be drained back with the button before the bottle goes into a bag.

How does the water get back into the bottle?

The design is water reflowable. Pressing and holding the button with the cup held upright lets the water left in the trough run back into the body instead of being thrown away. That is how unused water is saved on a walk, and it is also how the trough is emptied before the bottle is put away.

Can the bottle carry food as well as water?

Yes. A removable slotted divider splits the clear body so that the lower section can hold kibble, treats or a small portion of food while the water sits above it.
